The Foreigner, written by Milwaukee's own Larry Shue, is one of my all-time favorite plays. It's performed all the time, but I don't know that it's recognized by drama aficionados as the masterpiece that is. Maybe because it's really, really funny? Scholars and critics, not the biggest fans of having a laugh.
Anyway, it's a warm, fun, funny, and surprisingly edgy play (if you know who the villains are, you know what I'm talking about) that made me want to go into theater in the first place, and so it's my enormous delight to return to the Red Barn Theatre in Key West, FL, to direct a production of The Foreigner with a stellar cast. We run Dec. 12-Jan. 11. You can get your tickets here, and the website link is below.
